Abstract

The journal Novedades Colombianas makes available to the local, national and international community Volume 19, Number 2, dated July - December 2024, at a very important time for global biodiversity. This year, Colombia hosted the 16th Conference of the Parties on Biodiversity (COP16), which took place from October 21 to November 1 in the city of Cali (COP16 Colombia, 2024). Leaders from different countries of the world participate in this Conference, as it is the highest international instance where decisions are made within the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), signed in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 by leaders of 150 countries at the Earth Summit. This convention promotes Sustainable Development through a vision that involves both ecosystems and people.

As a scientific journal, we hope that the articles published will constantly contribute to enrich and broaden the knowledge of biodiversity, its conservation and sustainable use, becoming a valuable input for decision-makers to develop strategies aimed at the fulfillment of the agreements established at COP16.

Finally, the Editorial Committee would like to thank the authors of the articles included in the current volume for choosing Novedades Colombianas as their medium to share the knowledge generated; it would also like to thank the reviewers who participated in this publication, as they guarantee the quality of our work.
