The fishes described in this paper were all collected during the Expedition to the Southern Macarena Mountains, January 10th to March 23rd, 1958. The Guayabero is one of the headwaters of the Guaviare River, and so belongs to the Colombian part of the Orinoco System, The author wishes to express his gratitude to the Director and to the Leader of the Expedition, to the members and assistants, and very specially to Professors Fred Medem and Ricardo Lozano, who collected several several of the fishes described here, as well as to Dr. Leonard P. Schults. Curator of Fishes, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C. U. S. A. who very generously hel ped with valuable counsel and literature.
