Further additions to the avifauna of Colombia
Abstract
In the first number of the NOVEDADES COLOMBIANAS (p. 14) Mr. M. A. Carriker, Jr. has mentined the collections made in the Republic of Colombia for the United States National Museum from 1941 to 1952. This work planned by the present writer to give material for a better understanding of the avifauna, especially in the northern half of the country as a basis for consideration of the extension of birds of South American origin northward into Central America. In these studies the collections from Colombia were required to supplement the field work of the writer in the Republic of Panamá. Work on this material progresses steadily and it is expected in due course to publish a complete report on the specimens secured by Mr. Carriker, as well as a detailed account of the avifauna of Panamá. The following account announces some of the recent finds of forms not previously reported from Colombia, and supplements similar papers that have appeared earlier.Downloads
