Health care for children and adolescents of diverse human groups: Are we really different? A book of Rodrigo Vásquez de Kartzow
Abstract
The text (1) begins by situating human diversity within the framework of the great migrations that gave rise to different population groups. In the context of the anthropology that the author himself refers to, these migrations not only involved geographical displacements, but also processes of biocultural and social adaptation. He relates the exodus of the first humans from Africa, tens of thousands of years ago, which generated a wide range of adaptive responses in the different environments: from skin pigmentation to body complexion and resistance to certain diseases. Thus, the phenotypic diversity observable today in skin, hair, facial features and size is the result of complex interactions between environmental, biological and cultural factors throughout history.Downloads
