Notes on Schizoeaca fuliginosa and description of a new subspecies.

Abstract

From the study of a series of more than fifty specimens of this species from the surroundings of the city of Bogotá (Páramo de Guasca, Páramo de Cruz Verde, Páramo de Palacio, Boquerón de Chipaque, Lagunas del Chisacal), Páramo del Cardón (Santander), Páramo del Tábano (Nariño), Páramo de Puracé (Cauca), Nevado del Tolima (Tolima), Nevado de Chiles (Nariño) and from the Cordillera Oriental in Ecuador, it is deduced that there is an undescribed subspecies. The two Colombian subspecies are easily recognizable only by chromatic characters since the dimensions of the two groups overlap.
