Notes on Buteo albigula philippi
Abstract
This paper presents the results of a joint research on Buteo albigula, a species previously confused with others of the same genus such as B. brachyurus, B. polyosoma and B. platypterus. The authors began their studies separately in Colombia, but noticing the common objective, they joined efforts and compared specimens from different collections in Colombia and Ecuador. Thanks to the detailed analysis, the review of recent literature and the collaboration with ornithologists from Chile and Germany, they confirmed the presence of B. albigula in Colombian and Ecuadorian collections, clarifying its identity and distribution.
