Contributions to the study of the fauna of Colombia XII
Abstract
Since my return from California, where I was conducting studies and observations in connection with research on diseases transmitted to man by arthropod viruses and of which birds and some animals can be carriers, in November 1955, I have been in charge of the Zoology Section of the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad del Valle, in order to continue research in the same direction on the birds of western Colombia, Part of the materials obtained for this work form a collection of more than 1. 100 specimens, most of them birds, specimens that already constitute an interesting collection for taxonomic, ecological and biological studies, due to the amount of data and corresponding annotations on localities, environment, dates, frequency, etc. and that allow the initiation of ornithological studies in this University. It is mainly on this collection that the following notes are based. However, I mention specimens obtained by me or by others, in other places and at other times when it is necessary, because of their interest, for a better knowledge of our fauna.Downloads
